but it's usually from rocks that come over the tow vehicle car. We use a truck box as a wind/bug/tumbleweed deflector on the front of the trailer. it works very well. but i've witnessed rocks come bouncing along and somehow get super human powers, jump over our truck, and land on the hood (and that little metal strip between the windshield and the ttops).other then an enclosed trailer, there is no 100% perfect answer. PS, towing the vehicle backwards helps distribute weight a little more and hopefully prevents more noticable damage to the hood/facsia.
